I couldn’t see fro the whole night. Weirdly it was easier to deal with when I was moving. When I sat down, that’s when I started to get nauseous. Wicked turn out regardless of my vision! It’s an estimated 800-1200 people that showed up. After seeing the photos, I can probably vouch for that. There were so many zombies I just didn’t see that night.  Kool-aid Guy, with his brains sticking out was a great one.

We’ve also got a tradition going, two years running now at least. At the end of the walk my and my friends go into the Fort Garry Hotel and have a drink at the jazzbar. Last year it was just Jeremy and I, but this year it grew to 10 people. It’s a lovely way to end the night. I love the contrast of dead and bloody with upperclass, no hats allowed.

As you may have read, Chad and I are planning a road trip.

roadtrip

Things we hope to hit up: Calgary stampede, white water rafting, hot springs, friends in Vic and Van, our first ferry ride, surfing, Los Angeles in general, warped tour, Conan, and hopefully the San Diego comic con.  Obviously there is tons in between to do, this is just the start. But . . .we have to earn it. We have to complete 3 months of working out. We are sick of not being able to stick to our guns. So we have now resorted to giving ourselves an ultimatum. It’s depressing to think that I don’t have enough self-motivation, I want to be proud of me.  Say something and do it.

Today is a great day for me to start this because last night I sold my car. Meaning, I AM OUT OF DEBT and then some. I can now start saving, yea weird eh? I’m going to open a second account today and actually start *gulp* saving money.

So if I don’t see you in the next 3 months, don’t be offended, I’m off being awesome and sticking to my goals.  :P

As cheesy as it sounds, today really is the first day of the rest of my life.  Wish me luck!

A bit of alright.

I’m in a good head space, body space, space space etc. Even though I’m not rich or haven’t decided on what I am doing with my life, I am oddly content.  It must be a Monday thing. I know, MONDAYS? Well your Monday is my Sunday.  My day to clean, do laundry and blog of course.  I just feel pretty darn great when I am being productive.

Em and B have found a fancy new place (which I have yet to see) in the village. So our house is a little empty feeling. J.D. is no doubt happy though, no more strange felines.  PSYCHE! We will be having a dog and a cat staying with us for the next month or so. Kiya and Evil are my favourite pets.

I also hope to do some Halloween shopping today. Well, more-so for the Zombie Walk.  I imagine even if it’s cold, this year’s is going to be a huge turn out.   Well Short and sweet. I am going back to being domestic.  Weirdest part is, I really don’t mind it.

Zombie walk  Zombie walk  Zombie walk! Last year’s zombie walk was such a success I have no doubt it is only going to get better! last year there were probably 150 people (which is impressive to see walking down the street), but this year I anticipate amazing-ness.  I’m pretty sure I will be having a pre-walk shindig at my place. Drinking if you want, but mainly make-up-ing. Here is a pic of me and my lumber-friend Jeremy from last year.  We made the cover of the Manitoban last year!Jer and I

I have a few ideas floating in my head about this year’s walk. Nothing concrete though. I might also be “away” for halloween itself. There is a possibility that I will be in Sault St. Marie, Ont, shooting a movie. I’d gladly miss Halloween for a chance to hang out with filmies out of town, per diem and all.

Weirdly, christmas has also been on my head alot over the past few days. Craft time? I hope so!

I am usually anti-xmas . . . but this new boy of mine is forcing it on me . . and I’m letting him. But I wanna stick with making gifts this year.  The wheels are already turning.

Oh how time passes.

All moved in. I even have my own desk in the corner opposite to Chad’s. Now all I need is to start playing Wow again and we can both nerd out hard on the computers in the same room. Well, either Wow or Diablo 2.

The girls at work are trying to get me to play Guild Wars, apparently it’s the same as Wow but you only pay once, no monthly fees. I don’t know if I want to start another MMORPG. I am really enjoying playing Left 4 Dead online. It’s pretty much my only hobby right now.

I picked up a few canvases I had left at Laura’s house. So I’ll be looking to paint those up in the near future, along with my bike helmet. It needs to be snazzier. If only I owned a Bedazzler. Snap, Push, Pop!

Just cleared off my credit cards today. Clean slate! Clean slate! These fulltime spring hours are really helping, but I also gotta save for when it slows down.

32 days until my Bday party extraveganza! Chad and I ended up convincing a few Winnipeggers to come too.  We might be a convoy of cars headed there. Woo! Anyone is invited. :) Including you!

Phew. It’s been a while.

I have since traveled to Thunder Bay with boy in tow to meet the parents. The actual reason was for my dad to fix my starter. I had assumed it was a big job and was prepared to take the Greyhound home.  My dad rocks so much he changed it in just over a day. Yay, my dad!

It turns out, every once and a while my car still makes the whurrrring sound that my dad thought he fixed. OH well. I told him when we returned with my car. I am pretty sure I will be back in Tbay in June for the Bday bash, so he figures he will just fix it then, along with my rear brakes. UGH. I am thinking I want to just sell my car. To sell it, it has to pass safety and for it to pass safety I have to fix all the stupid little things. It all just takes money. Sigh. But we all know that song, and its a sad one.

But hey! My parents like Chad. He got the mom hug of approval and a handshake from the dad. But really, who couldn’t like Chad?

We didn’t really get to do too many “Thunder Bay” things. I forgot the Persians even exist. I know I’m a horrible Thunder Bayian.  We tried to go to the Hoito, but of course we tried on a Sunday (bad idea). So instead, we went to Court St cafe (Now Corky’s) which is merited to be the oldest restaurant in Thunder Bay.

Anyways, we got to experience our first road trip together and it went great.

In other news, I will be moving in with Chad on may 1st. Seriously, I live here already. So hopefully we can throw a little house warming party here, seeing as Chad didn’t even have one. It can have double meaning.

. . I do have more to type about. It’s been such a long weekend. BSG is on and then more Easter food in an hour. See ya.

Two dead boys got up to fight

March 30, 2009 - 2 Responses

“One bright day in the middle of the night
Two dead boys got up to fight
Back to back they faced each other
Drew their swords and shot each other
A deaf policeman heard the noise
He came and killed those two dead boys”
This poem was recited in “Haunting in Connecticut”, which is a horror movie I worked on two Halloween’s ago.  Reed, Chad and I went to see it this weekend. It’s definitely not the worst thing I’ve worked on. It’s an alright flick. The only reason I’ll own it though is because mine and Reed’s names are in the credits.  Woot!  It’s kinda badass to be sitting in a theatre and see your name scroll by in giant letters.

Seeing this movie was 1 of many things I did this weekend. This weekend helped me feel like it wasn’t snowy outside. I was actually doing things, as it if were spring. yay!

Friday: Total chill night. It was lovely. We were drinking Sailor Jerry, which is a company named after the original tattooist Norman “Sailor Jerry” Collins. Tattoos, Clothes, Music and Rum. Quite the versatile company. This was recommended by Emily. I’m pretty sure it’s better than Spiced Captain Morgan.

Saturday: Humane Society Orientation, I might become a volunteer. It’ll depend on my friend Anne (whom I went with). She is very very very much an animal lover, so when she found out the Humane Society does euthanize animals, she was pretty torn up. She is now going to look into NO KILL shelters that maybe we can volunteer at.  I’m fine either way, as long as I can can help and maybe bathe some puppies!

Then off to a Dog show Chad and I went. It was my first dog show and it was quite neat. You didn’t have to remain seated and just watch. You can walk around and see all the different kinds of dogs, and the people grooming them. There were 3 rings. 1 ring dedicated to Golden Retrievers . . hehe. There is a Golden Retrievers club of Manitoba. Never seen so many in one room before.  We mainly watched the big dog ring. Dobermans, Rottweilers, and my favourite GREAT DANES! I will own 1 one day.

Came home, Cleaned, Ate Panago Pizza (pizza blog coming soon), Went to see Haunting in Connecticut, then Derrick came over to chads to drink all night! They went to bed at 5am, I crashed early.  I woke up to a snoring derrick and Reed on the floor. it was cute.

Sunday: DIMSUM!!!! should I say anything else?

Wanted to fit a workout in right after, so I went home only to see that the backgate/back door had been left open. Kiya was no where to be found!! My brain went into “get shit done” mode. I let Laura (owner) break down and I called, Animal Services, Humane society and the city.  Chad was headed back over to do a car run around the area to see if we could find her. We were gone an hour and a half. As I was heading out the door, we got a phone call form animal services. A couple had found her sitting outside 7-11, just waiting. They brought her right back to our house. We were worried for less than an hour. Such a wonderful outcome for something that could’ve ended horribly in so many ways.

Just enough time had gone by and I could now head over to the Baby Shower. We played 4 different games, I didn’t win any. Nice to hang out with just ladies though. That never happens for me. Most of the people there were already mommies. So strange for me. Not until I’m over 25! Yeesh.

After the Shower, Chad picked me up and took me to his cousin’s bday party. Her name was Lexi and she just turned 5. Dang was she a super polite girl. “mommy I’m going to colour 1 more page, if that’s okay with you”. and she said “thank you” a lot. I want to raise good children. ya know, eventually. I got to meet the bulk of Chad’s family. All very savvy people. Some topics were: fetal alcohol spectrum disease, texting and roaming charges for different companies for all over the world, anti-virus software, twitter, solar powered generators. Sometimes it got fairly heated. But I loved that they could debate things and weren’t just talking about the weather.

I then spent the whole night cuddling Evil the cat.

I need to have more weekends like that. Well next weekend is Thunder Bay (sorry Em). I need to get back before I start my job.  I am hoping to go to all my friends houses to hand deliver the invites to my 3rd annual Bday bash, and this way Chad can meet them all too.

Forward March

It’s almost April.  It came upon us so soon.

My parents should be back from their vacation soon, which means I get to hit up tbay. Well it’s 50/50 right now. I need to give my dad my car so he can fix it. He will either come up here and grab the car from me, or I will drive it down and greyhound it back. I’m hoping to drive down after Chad gets off work on the 3rd then come back on the Monday, maybe even the weekend before but I have some plans already for that weekend. They are breakable plans though.  I am dying to have my friends and family meet Chad.  They’ve already heard all about him.

Maybe you and yoru friend can come too Em. I will keep you as posted as I am.

I’ve been going back and forth on a theme for my Bday party for weeks now. I know, I plan early. These were my ideas:

Theme winners thus far

Circus/carnival
Wild West
Fairy Tales
Movie/fictional Character
Ocean
Pigs in hats party
Space

I think Wild West won.  This way its super easy for non costume people to just throw on a bandana, and it can still be fun if you liek to dress up, like I do!

I just hope to get the word out about my party before the Def Sup gets their word out about the Zombie walk. I will not be attending the Zombie walk, unless it’s super early (at like 6pm) Then I will just be a zombie cowgirl. :P I didn’t want to do the zombie as part of my party because I thought that it would then become like two parties. Some guests would do the walk and some woudl hit up the bonfire at my place. I’d rather just do the bonfire.  3 of my relatives own farms and hay as well, so instead of chairs I just might use hay bails.

I got my taxes back yesterday, they saved my life.  I am secure again for a little while. At least until I start my job, and that’s all I need.  Can you believe I made $32,000 last year? I sure as fuck can’t.  I will miss film for all it’s financial goodness.

But the doggies await me!

The worst is over.

I got the job! I’m feeling much better.  My lack of work and money was really starting to get to me. I was becoming more socially anxious, but I hope its over now. Either way I have a doctors appt tomorrow, maybe she will dope me up. .. I kinda hope not.  I start in April, first weekish. Best part, I don’t have to look pretty because I will just get wet and hairy anyways!

I went to watch Roller Derby last night . . . .bussed it there,  it was cancelled!! There were two girls outside in their trucks. They offered to drive me home. They were pretty bad-ass but man did they hate their own team. Apparently the Winnipeg roller derby team is a joke. They’ve been a team for over a year and yet they don’t have 14 qualified members. They’ve had 2 car washes, a social, and an Imax party and are still bankrupt.  So these two other ladies might break off and start their own. I hope I can join.

Alright so I decided, fuck it I’ll send this cover letter and resume to every dog grooming place that has an email address.  Turns out that works.  I got a reply the next day from Classy Clips. They didn’t have an ad out. One of there staff is preggo and is going to pop next month.  So I had a semi interview today with them. They want to make sure I am serious about this business so they asked me back on Friday to do a volunteer day. They figure it’ll either make or break me.

I am not a wimp, I can lift 200lbs and I am used to 14 hour days of deadlines. I will not be broken.

I love that this all came from a fluke email I sent.

I am not sad about my career change plan.  I do not feel defeated.  I just can’t rely on the film business. I made a shit ton of money in the short period of time I have been in the industry, it’s not stable enough though. If I ever want a family, film just wouldn’t cut it.

Best part is, this place is starting a certifying program in january, so I don’t have to spend the $8,000 going to Alberta for school. I can stay local and spend far far less.

Spring is upon us. I am really starting to feel the change.

Fuck you February!
